The 3-2-1 Rule Explained
Copies of Your Data
At least three copies of your data and applications spread across different storages. That’s the one copy you’re using and two backups. When partnering with us, this design would include one copy in Iron Mountain, a second one at your disaster recovery site, and a third copy sent to the Continuity Centers Private Cloud which consists of security-hardened Linux storage in our data center.
Different Media Types
At least two different media types, meaning different format types, for example copying to a hard drive, tape, or the cloud. When partnering with us, a copy of your data is sent to Continuity Centers Private Cloud which consists of security-hardened Linux storage, as well as tape backup in the AWS S3 cloud.
Off-Site Copy
At least one backup is recommended to be off-site (in a different location). If there is a crisis and all your copies are collocated, they can all be affected, impacting your entire organization. When partnering with Continuity Centers, the offsite copies are marked immutable (undeletable by OFB/CC employees, hackers, etc.) and they are air-gapped from the OFB infrastructure.
